Dedicated to the Amazing World of Hobby Electronics especially for Electronic Music

I became a Maker around the age of ten when my parents gave me an electronics experimenter kit for my birthday to try and prevent me from taking things apart. Ultimately I became an embedded software and electronics designer and entrepreneur. Now on permanent sabbatical I am actively participating in the Maker Movement with one of my goals to pass on the benefit of some of my years of experience. But I am also learning lots of new things that I never had time for before now.

Projects in 2024 and 2025
In 2024 I took a bit of a break from my obsession with touch based MIDI keyboards and instead looked into various ways of making sound generating electronics and this has continued into 2025. I have been following and experimenting with a number of Open Source projects such as the TulipCC with it’s AMY synthesis engine (https://github.com/shorepine/amy) and the Microdexed Touch project (https://codeberg.org/positionhigh/MicroDexed-touch). In 2025 I also made some prototypes of the EMMMA-K Mini which is smaller and easier to build and has a much improved user interface including a much requested volume control (https://github.com/RocketManRC/EMMMA-K-Mini). Most recently (November 2025) I have been investigating grid layout keyboards starting with a launchpad based prototype of the midimech (https://github.com/RocketManRC/midimech)

Maker Faires
I had hoped to attend the Bay Area Maker Faire in October 2025 however decided not to because of the political situation in the U.S.

The EMMMA-K Version 3 was demonstrated at Maker Faire Rome 2023 from October 20 to 22 as part of an exhibit titled "The Electronic Jug Band”. See here: The Electronic Jug Band.
